Item Description
11.75" tall. c. 1780. Lovely polychrome decorated transfer of the "Death Of Wolfe" after Benjamin West's painting and William Woollett's engraving published on January 1, 1776 that was responsible for popularizing the image w/the masses. Other side depicts a two mast ship captioned "The America" including waving American flag. Below handle is a 15 star federal eagle and below spout are owner's name "John Hilton" and the "Hope" emblem w/woman leaning on an anchor standing on rocky shores. Expert spout and handle restoration are near seamless. Minor wear to handle and overall light handling. VF. Transfers remain crisp and vivid color makes this a standout. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
