Item Description
Lot consists of three pieces overall, four-piece painted foam latex appliances worn by Michael Chiklis as The Thing in 2005's Fantastic Four film, featuring a detailed orange color scheme w/wash applied to dark recesses of The Thing's rocky exterior. Costume appliances consist of cowl w/neck piece, brow piece and lower face as well as separate piece for back of head. Sides of head show fine mesh covering ear holes to allow the actor to hear better. Presented on a lightweight display bust marked "Hero Neck." Underside of neck appliance has metal snaps to connect to rest of costume. Pushpin stuck in forehead to secure appliance. Bridge of nose has deteriorated some and there is some scattered residue stuck to brow piece. Pair of 21.5" long foam latex w/fabric lining arm appliances from the shoulders to wrists were created by Spectral Motion for stunt use in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer. Each is marked either "Left" or "Right" on interior of shoulder in black marker as well as noting "Thing Stunt Double" inside left arm and simply "Stunt" on inside of right arm. Both are also marked "Shawn," indicating use by Chiklis stunt double (and frequent 20th Century Fox Marvel movies stunt performer) Shawn Beaton. Arms have sewn-in velcro straps to secure costume to performer as well as metal snaps and hook latches to connect to other parts of the Thing costume. As w/the head, the rocky-looking surface features detailed orange color scheme w/wash applied to dark recesses. Armpit areas show wear to foam from production use and as w/head appliances, all painted surfaces have become tacky. Iconic pieces of screen-used costuming for this beloved Marvel character.
