Item Description
17.25x25" rolled sign with metal strip fasteners at top and bottom. Sign advertises American Seating Company "Universal" school desk. c. 1920s. Top half of sign consists of nice image showing the "Patchwork Girl" and "Scarecrow" of Oz Books fame sitting at desks and exhibiting bad posture. "When Seated At Your Studies - Don't Hump Over Nor Slump Down" each bad habit is illustrated by an Oz character. Bottom half of sign has etiquette verse relating to posture and photo of young girl studying at desk with proper posture. This is the earlier printing of this sign, which was later reprinted with a red and blue border and more colors. Sign has scattered age spotting and pin holes along bottom margins. .5x1.5" sliver of surface paper lifting along bottom metal fastener. Fine overall.
