Item Description
The MAXx FX action figure line was a proposed series of articulated base action figures, w/special snap-on "make-up" appliances and costumes. Famed toy creator Mel Birnkrant created prototype figures of MAXx FX, a Werewolf, Jason Vorhees, Mummy, Freddy Krueger, Swamp Creature, Caveman and Dr. MAD FX's robot henchman, Ultra FX for the original presentation. The line was to be produced using 9" tall Mego figures, w/Birnkrant commissioned to create additional figures - Frankenstein, Dracula and H.R. Geiger's Alien. These prototypes were produced by the Matchbox design department w/costume parts in hand-cast resin which were then hand-painted (some having hair/fur added). These prototypes represented the final form, in which the action figures were to actually appear in production. However, only Freddy Krueger saw production before the line was pulled from shelves due to complaints about the character's horror content. Offered here is the prototype for the never-released "MAXx FX" Werewolf action figure, which stands 10" tall w/all snap-on appliances in place. Base figure has hand-painted head. Included are all hand-cast resin prototype appliances for feet, chest/torso, hands and nicely detailed two-piece head/mask. Base figure wears denim pants w/holes at knees, exposing fur and fur vest w/plush sleeves. Mask consists of top piece w/large wolf ears, eyes, nose and upper jaw and fur-like hair while second piece is lower jaw w/fur. Base figure shows some lt. wear to face and hands, but w/Werewolf disguise in place, figure displays Exc. Ex-Mel Birnkrant Collection and comes with COA.
