Item Description
1.25" w/Crescent Art Gallery, Kansas City, MO on curl. Full color design featuring the 1900 Democratic ticket set against a silver moon eclipsing a golden sun w/the GOP standard bearers. Slightly concave along right half of button that does not affect display. A touch off-center. For extreme accuracy, light scattered wear in reflected light, most notably faint vertical scratch over Stevenson's forehead.  Still Exc. as made. The solar eclipse on May 28, 1900 captivated the public's imagination and clever button manufacturers took advantage of the hysteria producing a litany of outstanding designs around the Presidential campaign. The majority of these are sepia toned making full color varieties especially exciting. Additionally, this is the only jugate design to incorporate this charming campaign motif making it easily the top 1900 Bryan jugate and placing it high in any ranking of golden age buttons. A special opportunity for the advanced collector or those seeking the most fascinating and special artifacts of the material culture of American political campaigning.
