Item Description
1.25" w/W&H back paper. Spring pin holds a pair of 1.5" ribbons in the city colors. Two medieval heralds, each with a dagger on hip, blow trumpets formed by yellow/green poppies, the state flower. Dated for May 8-9, 1901, to coincide with a visit by President McKinley. The yearly event was held 1894-1916 and was essentially an attempt to rival Pasadena's Tournament of Roses which started in 1894. NM. Rare.
