Item Description
3x3.5x1.75" deep solid metal die block used for stamping design of ring top for 1940s Knights of Columbus ring, featuring highly detailed image of a Knight from the Crusader era holding aloft a huge sword and a large shield w/the word "League" above the letters divided into quadrants "S - H - A - P." Sacred heart and cross symbols also figure into design, which is surrounded w/bold "Sequar Te Domin" Latin text, which translates to "I Will Follow You, Lord." Design measures 1" in dia. The ring - issued for the Catholic fraternal organization - featured the same base as the Green Hornet premium ring of the era, showing a cauldron w/rising plumes of steam surrounding the intertwined initials, the Knight of Columbus ring changing the Green Hornet's "GH" initials to "HG" for the Holy Ghost. The ring also featured a glow-in-dark plastic compartment. Stamping die has even aged patina and displays Exc. Among the rarest premium rings, we have only offered one example in our 58 years, which sold for $5,175 in our Feb. 2011 auction. This example comes from the archives of the famous premium producing company The Robbins Company of Attleboro, MA. While the ring is rare, this stamping die is even rarer and presents a unique addition to any ring collector's collection.
