Item Description
5.5" tall with ribbon back naming Baltimore maker Hyatt Mfg. Co. Front has three celluloid pieces: first is badge bar inscribed "Committee", second a pinned on .75" real photo button of "Francis Scott Key", whose 1812 poem "Defence of Fort M'Henry" became the lyrics for The Star Spangled Banner, and third a gorgeous color cello scene of the American flag flanked by six cannons firing shells at the British ships in the harbor which in the end forced the British to abandon their plans for a land assault on the crucial port city of Baltimore. The defeat led to the War of 1812 peace agreement later that year. The ribbon badge has gold text "September Demonstration" plus initials of the fraternal group Junior Order of United American Mechanics. Our second seen. NM and rare.
