Item Description
20x30" medium white stock. Original screenprint by artist John Angus who designed posters for cultural events around the UK from 1974 to 2006. Printed before the show advertising Jamaican reggae fusion band Third World, punk poet John Cooper-Clarke, and The South African Drongos at the University of Lancaster, England on Sunday November 19th, 1978. Third World was formed in 1973, signed to Island Records in 1974 and toured Europe w/The Wailers before releasing their self titled debut album in 1976. The Rock Against Racism movement emerged in 1976 as a response to the rise of racist and fascist groups in Britain. Poster is rolled and shows lt. handling/edge wear w/creasing at bottom left corner and age related toning. VF. but will display above grade. Vibrant red, yellow and green colors w/bold imagery makes this a powerful design of the 1970's Pan-African movement resurgence.
