Item Description
Two 11.5x18" thin artboards that are taped across center to create a full Sunday page, w/inked original art by Fred Laswell (1916-2001). Lasswell was an American cartoonist best known for his decades of work on the comic strip Barney Google and Snuffy Smith. He was mentored by the original artist of Barney Google, Billy DeBeck and helped to create the Snuffy Smith character. He took over the title after DeBeck's death in 1942. Art is for May 23, 1943 Sunday and each features nine panels. Bunky strip features Bunky, Fagin and Mrs. V.Z while Snuffy is a corporal in the Army. KFS copyright strips are both missing a small piece. Back has "8479" written in red pencil on both. Lt. aging/wear. A few stray pencil lines. Overall Exc.
