Item Description
From the 2-1/8" Yankees team series. No maker. Spring pin holding ribbon, plastic bat and ball. Kubek is shown in New York Yankees cap, the team he played his entire career for, 1957-65. Ribbon and attachments has trace of age and slight fade on blue strip of ribbon. Fine. Minor and typical, for this button series, crazing of the button paper under the cello and only seen upon magnification/reflected light. All remains glossy and Exc. During his nine-year playing career with the New York Yankees, Kubek played in six World Series in the late 1950s and early 1960s, starting in 37 World Series games. For NBC television, he later broadcast twelve World Series between 1968 and 1982, and fourteen League Championship Series between 1969 and 1989. Kubek received the Ford C. Frick Award in 2009. Inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall Of Fame in 2016.
