Item Description
1.75". No maker. Several different PM10 buttons were made for Ned (see two others in this auction). This one shows him from the chest up in St. Louis Browns uniform and this is the larger of two sizes. He played for the team 1948-52. Some age spots but on rim curl, so not seen on the front. Moderate surface wear mostly only seen in reflected light. All remains bright and glossy. Fine.  Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.

Garver began his Major League career in 1948 with the St. Louis Browns and would remain with them until 1952 when he moved over to the Detroit Tigers before pitching for the Kansas City Athletics from 1957-60. Ned finished with a career record of 129-157, an ERA of 3.73 and 881 strikeouts for primarily inept ball clubs. An All-Star in 1951. Garver and Irv Young are the only pitchers in the modern era of baseball (since 1901) to win 20 or more games for a team that lost 100 games.
