Item Description
1.75". No maker. Spring pin hold ribbon w/metal link chain that holds plastic bat and baseball. From series featuring team name on rim along w/player's name. He played for the Giants 1951-52 and 1954-72. Typed on the white stripe of the ribbon is "Willie Mays 615 25th St." Ribbon is aged. Entire surface of the button has hairline stress cracks but these are mostly only seen in reflected light. Surface remains glossy. Good. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
Willie Howard Mays Jr. , nicknamed "the Say Hey Kid" and "Buck", is a reegarded as one of the greatest players ever, Mays ranks second behind only Babe Ruth on most all-time lists, including those of The Sporting News and ESPN. Mays played in the National League (NL) between 1951 and 1973 for the New York/San Francisco Giants and New York Mets. Some of his many career achievements include being a 24 time All-Star, 12 time Gold Glove Winner, two time MVP, Rookie Of The Year and World Series Champion. Willie Mays was inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1979.
