Auction #182 - Part II
Item numbers 1500-3431 in auction 182
Item Description
This is only the third we've seen of this game and the first of this variety. In Auction #178 we offered the U.S. version by Quaker Wheat Crackles while in Auction #176 we offered an Australian version issued by Wood Son's Tea (this was the first we had ever seen). While this is an Australian version © 1933 and marked on bottom margin "John Sands Ltd." the reverse is blank whereas our previous Australian example had an imprint for the tea company along w/Mickey's name. 13.5x19.5" thin cardboard. Game board bears the title "World Flight Of That Valiant Adventurer And Intrepid Explorer Mickey Mouse" and this appears at lower right along w/large images of Mickey and Pluto. Attached at lower left is spinner. Missing four small cardboard airplane playing pieces. No instructions but none needed as it is a simple spin and move game w/"Go Back" hazards along the airplane-shaped designs that specify the path to be followed. Superb graphics detail Mickey's travel across ficticious lands. He starts by flying in an airplane which crashes into the side of a mountain and he then continues on foot before mounting a bird named Caspar Crow and then swimming. Along the way is shown traveling w/Pluto and they are blown in different directions by cloud characters, chased by a gorilla, shown in the water along w/sharks and sea monsters, etc. Along w/these images are captions describing the different adventures. Clarabelle is also depicted in a sailboat and there is "Goofland" w/Goofy. At lower left are images of Mickey and Minnie behind a microphone. Has overall moderate trace of soiling, four lt. vertical creases that run from top to bottom but are really only noticeable when viewed closely. Spinner area has some surface paper rubs. .5" split at bottom of center fold but color remains strong. VG. Our previous two examples brought between $1000 and $2000.
