Item Description
15/16" with rim hole as issued largely matching DeWitt/Sullivan 1860-90/91 except for a period, not a comma, after Lincoln and the circle enclosing the images has tiny accent lines, not plain. The Lincoln portrait is just a trifle dark but sharp, clear and easily seen. Hamlin is visible, but darkness hides facial details unless magnified. On Lincoln, the emulsion has a minor 1/16" lighter color dot above his hair. On Hamlin, a near invisible hairline 3/32" emulsion sliver is off the extreme left edge. There is Exc. luster on both rims. The Lincoln portrait is DeWitt's #1 although on this piece more in a close-up, larger image than often seen. Our last example with N. Mint photos reached $2,600. This one opens much more modestly. We grade the Lincoln side as Exc. with Hamlin VG due to darkness.
