Item Description
10.5x15.5x1.25" deep box contains complete set by Whitman © 1939. Box lid serves as the front of the stage and has a diecut window w/"Stage Curtains." There is a 10x15" cardboard piece that fits inside the box lid and includes the full color bkg. scene. This area is 6x8". Attached to the sheet are two connected panels and a third separate sheet attaches to this to give it a dimensional effect. These panels feature street scene w/buildings. On the back of the large cardboard section in bw are assembly instructions as well as script for two plays w/titles "Pinocchio Learns A Lesson/Pinocchio Makes A Decision." There are eight diecut cardboard puppet figures of Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Geppetto, Figaro, Honest John, Stromboli, Coachman, Blue Fairy. Size of each character image is 1.5" to 4" tall while attached below are 7" or so long strips which serve as control handles. Each strip has character name. Three have a few lt. bends on the strips, only Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket have a few very ft. creae lines on the character images themselves. Rest of set shows very little wear. VF to Exc. Box lid has moderate wear, pair of corner splits, 3.5" split along bottom left edge, 2" tear at top left corner of "curtain." Fine. Nicely designed and rare.
