Item Description
3.25x5.75" with 16 pages. c. 1900. Printed by Geo. S. Harris & Sons. Cover illustration depicts Palmer Cox's Brownie characters including top hat and monacle-wearing Cholly Boutonniere and stereotypical Chinese Brownie. Art appears to be by Cox who has Brownies involved in household tasks, many of them using Red Seal Lye and Hoe Cake Soap. Brownies appear on cover only with interior pages being mostly text with a few generic illustrations relating to household uses of Red Seal Lye and Hoe Cake Soap. Back cover has large ad for Red Seal Lye. Front cover has moderate dust soiling but colors remain bright. Back cover has a 1/8x1.25" chip to side edge. Pages are aged and fragile. VG. Scarce.
