Item Description
2.25x4.25x.75" two-piece cardboard box "Telegraph Set." Top has metal key for sending international code. Text on top includes instructions to make a dot and dash signal and the international code for letters of the alphabet and numbers 0-9. Top flap shows image of Ralston cereal box w/text "The Straight Shooters Favorite Cereal." Bottom shows Tom Mix brand and facsimile signature. Bottom reads "To Be A Real Telegraph Operator Get Two Sets!" followed by instructions as to how to put up your private telegraph system. Lower text reads "Tom Mix Says For Real Cowboy Energy Eat Ralston Wheat Cereal Every Day." Box opens to reveal battery compartment and metal/magnet device. Side of box has inked letters of owner. Lightly aged but sturdy and VF. Lot also comes w/10.5x15" Sunday Funnies ad w/color comic strip. Bottom right includes mail-in coupon to acquire telegraph set. Bottom left shows color photo of Tom w/caption "Boys! Girls! Get Your Electric Telegraph Set Free! For Two Ralston Box Tops Or One Ralston Box Top And 10¢ In Coin." Ad is cut from paper and tanned w/age. VF. 1940.
