Item Description
This extremely popular 1908 design (Hake #171) typically has image area in bw with "Commoner" on top edge of safe in red. Curl on standard issue reads "Copyright Applied For By M. Russell Cole." On this 1.25" variety, the safe and Bryan photo are brown/white, not bw. In addition, text on bottom safe edge is red (not black) saying "Guarantee Of Bank Deposits." There are other tiny differences between the standard example and this on both the Bryan photo and the safe. Curl of this reads "Cruver Mfg. Co. Chicago." Missing backpaper. A fairly deep scratch under .25" runs from his mouth down to bow tie but just barely showing in reflected light. Overall VF but displays Mint. First we've seen. Rare.
