Item Description
11x17". Cardboard. c. 1930s. The House Of David was a religious colony in Benton Harbor, Mich. started in the early 1900s. Members of the colony formed a baseball team that evolved into a competitive/exhibition team that traveled throughout the country. Members had a distinctive look of very long hair and long beards. In the 1930s they extended their team by hiring players from outside of the colony. Pictured here is "Babe Didrikson/World's Greatest Girl Athlete And Baseball Player." Interesting to note that she does not appear to have long hair. Also pictured is "The Pepper Game Trio" the 'Pepper Game' refers to fancy pitching/warm-ups that were considered to be worth the price of admission. Lightly toned with age. Scattered handling creases. Overall Fine.
