Item Description
13.25x13.25x1" deep. c. 1915 (pre-Prohibition). Lithographer unidentified, but a superb example of the stone lithography created at this time. Nicely detailed features on faces with eyebrows, hairlines, detailed hats and clothing. The unopened bottle that sits on the tray at the center is detailed to the point of having readable text/the image of a man appears on the label around the neck of the bottle. Bubbles are seen in the bottom of the bottle being poured. On the upper left an oval sign reading "Gilt Edge Inn" appears attached to porch pillar. Color loss appears along left edge in porch area. Spots appear above faces on billboard area. Two circular 'cloudy' areas appear in lower center (a result of moisture from beer bottle). Gold luster remains on bottle label and in the large lettering "Ruhstaller's." Scattered oxidation on black rim and back of tray. Even with condition issues, this classic and graphic tray displays nicely. VG.
