Item Description
Complete set of 86 different comic character buttons created by the legendary premium designer and salesman Sam Gold and given with "Pep" cereal in 1945-1946. Each is 13/16" litho color portrait. This is a very high grade set w/only minimal paint wear. Bkg. color is as close to consistently nearly pure white as on any set we've ever seen. This set inspired more comic character collectors than any other item of the 1940s and as these go into collections, it is becoming increasingly difficult to assemble a high-grade condition set such as this. Only these 8 (grading at least Fine) could use upgrading to match the others which are Exc. to Mint: Abretha Breez, Aunt Blossom (dent), Fritz (dent), Kayo (dent), Mack (dent) and Moon Mullins, Smiling Jack, Tess Trueheart. A high grade set upgraded by it's owner over at least 3 decades. Vast majority are N. Mint to Mint and sold separately value easily exceeds $2,000.
