Item Description
Issued in 1943 in Pep cereal, this is a complete set of 8 different airplanes, each 1-1/8" litho. The set was created by the legendary premium designer and salesman Sam Gold. Airplane names are on the button's curl. The brown planes came in two varieties, either with naturalistic clouds and blue sky bkg. or with obviously artistically enhanced clouds with obvious accent lines. All four here are the naturalistic style. Paint on this issue was very susceptible to wear. These have been constantly upgraded over the decades. While not perfect, all grade Exc. to N. Mint and are extremely glossy. Offered as a set of the 8 different planes, this is the best set we've seen.
