Item Description
Two 10.5x15.75" thin cardboard signs advertising "Esquire - The Magazine For Men." c. 1940s. Each features 6-1/8x9-1/8" colorful illustration by Elmer Simms Campbell, the only accepted black pin-up artist of the era. Best known for his risque harem girls, first poster features Campbell's character The Sultan kissing topless harem girls on the auction block. Second sign features another topless harem girl playing chess with The Sultan and a sailor. Signs read "Out Now - January Issue - America's Liveliest Magazine," and "February Issue Now On Sale - Fiction - Sports - Humor - Clothes - Art - Cartoons." c. 1940s. Each has corner tip wear with art remaining N. Mint. VF overall.
