Item Description
5.5x7" cloth-bound hardcover published in 1909 by Small, Maynard & Co. Cover has title with large question mark, punctuation being faced with word balloon reading "What's This - A Book?" as well as facsimile Goldberg signature. Two blank pages after title page have great pencil sketches that have been inked, one of woman with title "Chicago Chicken," other having dapper-looking man shaking hands with word balloon "How Are You Jake, Don't Josh Me About My Feet, I'm From Chicago." Book is inscribed in ink and personalized "To Jake Blaw With The Good Wishes Of **illegible** R. L. Goldberg. Smile And The Laugh Will Be On Us. Chicago, May 16, '10." These pages have some aging but not greatly detracting from overall appearance of sketches which remain Exc. Rest of pages are aged and have some handling wear. VF. Cover of book has wear to spine and staining. Fine. Inside front cover has inked owner information which matches the recipient of Goldberg's dedication, though we are unsure if Goldberg wrote this.
