Item Description
Lot of two. 2.5x5.25x12" box. Late 1940s. Buffalo Bob Smith credited the Small Fry Club with providing the impetus at NBC which resulted six months later in "Howdy Doody." Pictured on the box is club creator and TV host Bob Emery. End of boxes are marked "Boy/Girl." A Peter Puppet product. Text on boxes state "Simple 'Unitrol' One-Hand Control/Walks, Dances And Does Tricks/Designed By Raye Copelan." Boy box has old clear tape reinforcement on sides. Inked names on top. Overall handling wear. Boy box VG. Girl box has similar issues, but more extensive. Girl box Good. Inside box bottoms have printed instructions. Composition faces (cracks around eyes/mouth areas), hands and feet. Cloth bodies with felt hats, ties, accessories. Outfits bright and clean. Interesting pair of the forerunner to Howdy Doody. Both display VF.
