Item Description
Unmarked box has paper label with bw photo of statue and is numbered 40 of 100. Limited edition production run of 100 produced on 100th anniversary of The Yellow Kid in 1995 by Gemstone Publishing Inc. Statue was designed by Bowen Designs Inc. Box contains approximately 13" tall bronze statue of The Yellow Kid on base with plaque reading "The Yellow Kid - February 17 - 1895." Yellow Kid's shirt reads "Say! Dis Is My 100th Birtday - Hully Gee!" Reverse reads "Dis Is Grate Stuff!" In pose reminiscent of Statue of Liberty, Yellow Kid holds torch and copy of Joseph Pulitzer's "New York World" newspaper dated Feb. 17, 1895. New York World is where The Yellow Kid strip ran. Bronze statue has color highlights to cheeks and eyes. Statue base is inscribed "Bowen After R. Outcault" (Yellow Kid's creator). Also incised edition number 40/100, base reverse is signed in gold paint pen by Bowen with Feb. '95 date added. Mint. Comes with 13x23" signed and numbered lithograph featuring full color Randy Bowen art with vintage Yellow Kid images on border. Bowen has signed in black ink in lower left-hand corner. Also, Bowen has added Edition 40/100 in right-hand corner. Mint.
