Item Description
3.5x8x5" tall tin litho toy with built-in key ©Correll & Gosden, 1930. Toy has horseshoe hood ornament and crank plus separate figures of Amos, Andy and their dog. Plastic windshield is replacement. Car's body has related text including "Fresh Air Taxi Cab Company Of America Inc./Check And Double Check," etc. Car was designed with simulated wear and tear such as dents and dings, patched tires, plus mud splotches on fenders and running boards. Toy works and travels forward before coming to a stop. It then shakes as the figures of Amos N' Andy bounce up and down, then resumes its forward motion. Motor housing underneath has some discoloration on one side, slight oxidation on the other, oxidation also evident on axles. Figures have a few tiny paint nicks, body of taxi has more noticeable scratches mostly evident in the rear on edge and license plate holder with some on edge of hood as well. Tin lithoed hubs with gray tires have more moderate wear, mostly evident on the surfaces of the tires at their sides and bottoms.Fine. Still a worthwhile example for display of this classic toy. Fine.
