Item Description
23.5x25". Historic football item for the first games between rival leagues. AFL (Boston Patriots) vs. NFL (Baltimore Colts/Washington Redskins). Two pre-season games held Sunday August 13, 1967 and Saturday August 26th. Poster center reads "See The Great Stars Of The N.F.L." with photos of Johnny Unitas, Sam Huff, Sonny Jergenson, Raymond Berry. In June of 1966 the AFL and NFL announced a merger agreement. While maintaining separate schedules through 1969, the leagues agreed to play an annual AFL-NFL world championship game beginning in January, 1967. This game would later be re-christened the Super Bowl. The two leagues officially merged in 1970. Folded as issued. Several splits at folds/margin edges. Scattered wear. Despite condition problems, an historic football item. VG.
