Item Description
From his very first appearance in All American #16, the public instantly took to the emerald crusader. Created by Martin Nodell and Bill Finger, Green Lantern quickly earned his own book. He is one of only five DC heroes that had their own title during the Golden Age. Everyone else at DC appeared in anthologies. At one point, Lantern was appearing in four different titles. The public couldn't get enough of him. This issue features a memorable cover by Howard Purcell. It beautifully sums up everything that is great about the hero. Framing Green Lantern in front of the source of his power was an inspiration. Every color is perfectly balanced on this cover. It is one of the best of the Golden Age. The book features a story by Bill Finger and has art by Martin Nodell. In an interesting side note, the book also contains photos and bios of both. This book is CGC-certified VF/NM 9.0 According to the CGC Census; it is tied with three other copies as the highest graded, unrestored copy they have seen. The book also retells the origin of Green Lantern. The first page has "Martin Nodell '90" written in pen.
