Item Description
Alex Schomburg covers are always exciting, but this one really takes the cake. From the hooded vigilantes to the elaborate bondage of the woman, he crammed more into a cover than some artists pack into a career. The hero of the piece is almost obscured by the non-stop action. He can be seen standing on the upper right level of the cover, firing valiantly in the face of machine guns and pistols. His shot hit the red figure in the bottom left corner and seems to have knocked out a tooth, or dislodged a part of the machine. He is being fired on by a machine gun while a hooded figure in the top left corner points a pistol squarely at his head. Calmly observing everything is a white hooded figure sitting on a throne. He can’t seem to be bothered as his gaze is leveled at the woman’s distress. The woman is helpless in the face of so much restraint. The interior of the book matches the cover. The Reckoner begins his run in this title in this issue. L. B Cole, another artist known for his incredible imagination, does a Boomerang and Diana story. This title lasted exactly six issues, all of which appeared in 1944. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-certified GD+ 2.5. The 34th edition of the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide lists the book as scarce.
