Item Description
Lois Lane was riding high on the popularity of the Superman television series and she had also played a bit role in the radio series, so it was only natural that DC would want to see if she could move a few books on her own. She certainly succeeded. Lois was the first character to receive her own title after an appearance in Showcase. The title itself is important because as the sixties progressed for DC, Showcase became the number one book for introducing new characters or concepts. The list of heroes and adventurers that first appeared in Showcase is endless. Starting with The Flash (#4), and continuing through Challengers of the Unknown (#6), Space Ranger (#15), Adam Strange (#17), Rip Hunter (#20), and Green Lantern (#22), the title helped the editors of DC figure out what readers wanted to read. Lois appeared in this issue and also #10. Her own title started in March of 1958 and ran until 1974. The character is so perfect for Superman that when TV updated Superman for the nineties, they put her in the title of the show. This issue contains an appearance by Superman. The book features the writing of Otto Binder and Jerry Coleman. Cover and interior art is done by Ruben Moreia and Al Plastino. The pages are white. The book is CGC-certified VF 8.0. According to their census this is the third highest graded copy they have seen. This copy is recognized as part of the Bethlehem pedigree.
