Item Description
This is one of the best Robin covers that you may ever see. Jack Burnley’s cover art shines as he gives Robin the appearance of a later day Tarzan while still retaining the essence of the character. Take a look at the determination on his face, he was not messing around. Burnley also handled some of the interior art. Robin was featured on the cover of Star Spangled from issues #65 through #95. This issue also featured the third appearance of DC’s Revolutionary War hero, Tomahawk. He moved onto the cover with issue #96. Star Spangled Comics lasted until 1952 when it became Star Spangled War Stories with issue #131. Until then, it was one of DC’s Golden Age greats with a long history of solid characters like the Newsboy Legion and Robotman among others. Artists featured in this issue are Win Mortimer, Jimmy Thompson and Fred Ray. The pages are light tan to off white. The book is CGC-certified VF 8.0. According to the CGC census, this copy is tied with two other copies as the highest graded copy.
