Item Description
36x48". This is a 2-sided promotional piece that has been linen-mounted and as such has the appearance of a one-sheet movie poster. Details of other side can be seen if held to light. Back side is mostly text, front (as mounted) is graphic and striking. Poster promotes 4 serials produced by Universal during Carl Laemmle's tenure. "Ace Drummond, Jungle Jim, Secret Agent X-9" and Buck Jones western "The Phantom Rider." All produced 1936-1937. Bold and graphic images including great aerial dogfight for Drummond, various jungle animals and scenes for "Jungle Jim," nice large inset portrait image of "Secret Agent X-9" as well as various crime scenes and typical western fare for Phantom Rider including large Buck Jones portrait. Phantom Rider section of poster is slightly off-register but still bright and clean. Text underneath "Jungle Jim" reads "Mighty Jungle Favorite - Featured On Same Pages With Famous 'Flash Gordon' In Hundreds Of Biggest Newspapers!" Original fold lines as issued, but as linen-mounted these are only visible under close inspection. Scattered minor restoration. Poster displays Exc.
