Item Description
9.5x8" with 200 pages hardcover printed by Grossett & Dunlap in 1901. Pictures and text are from the New York Evening Journal by permission of William Randolph Hearst. Book features art by Frederick Opper and features a series of single-panel political satire cartoons involving whiny child Willie (President William McKinley), his rambunctious and uncontrolable cousin Teddy (Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt), Willy's Papa (trusts/monopolies) and their Maid (Senator Mark Hanna). Book frontispiece has nice bw portrait of Opper with facsimile signature underneath. Book has great content with many images of caricaturized McKinley and Roosevelt with numerous scenes related to McKinley's administration including "Full Dinner Pail, Republican Elephant and image of "The Trusts" dressed as Uncle Sam. Superb content. Pages have light aging at margins and are Exc. Covers show moderate wear and aging with staining to paper-covered front and back covers. VG. Scarce.
