Item Description
2.5x5x6.75" tall tin litho toy w/built-in key. 1950s. Popeye is depicted riding a high-wheel cycle which has a bell attached to back w/portraits of Wimpy and Olive Oyl. Complete w/separate pipe constructed of metal stem and wood bowl, he wears synthetic fabric pants. Toy works and when wound, travels in a circle. Pants, which were susceptible to fading, remain a strong shade of blue w/just some small lighter spots of discoloration on back. Toy has tiny scattered paint nicks, a few tiny fleshtone touchups, apparently factory done. VF. Provenance of Philip Samuels collection.
