Item Description
First is 9x12" "Adcrafter" 1939 "Annual Radio Number" magazine. 34 pages. Inside cover with b/w illustration of Lone Ranger on Silver has bright red accents. Ad promotes WXYZ radio shows including "The Lone Ranger/The Green Hornet." Magazine is filled with interesting/timely ads and articles of the radio industry. A two-page article about George Trendel, president of WXYZ and co-creator of Lone Ranger features photo of Trendel and explains the early days of "The Lone Ranger." Interesting reading. Fine. Second is "Radio Artist Ball/AFRA (American Federation Of Radio Artists) 1940" program. 8x10". 32 pages. Photo of Earle Graser identifies him as 1st vice-president of local officers of AFRA. Graser portrayed the Lone Ranger from May 1933 to early April 1941. He was killed in a car accident and replaced by Brace Beemer. Any photos of Graser are rare. This program also has an ad from George Trendel (co-creator of Lone Ranger and owner of WXYZ) plus comic page of Graser, Lone Ranger, Tonto and Green Hornet. Another page is filled with facsimile signatures of radio/AFRA notables. Included in this is "Brace Beemer" a year before he became the voice of The Lone Ranger. Interesting. VF. Both are first we've seen.
