Item Description
First item is a 3-page hand-written letter with mailing envelope from a seaman to his friend, postmark is Jan. 21, 1945. Each 6x10" sheet of paper has insignia design at top of Happy making repairs to a battleship. For "U.S.S. Jason/Fleet Post Office San Francisco California." Detailed content of letter includes mention of Naval censors (envelope has "Passed By Naval Censor" stamp/signature) including the censoring of letters, long stays at sea, comments on the food, etc. Slightest aging as folded. Exc. Second item is Vol. 26, No. 7 July 1943 copy of "The Leatherneck/Magazine Of The U.S. Marines." Great front cover illustration featuring bulldog insignia of the First Airdrome Battalion, Fleet Marine Training Center New River North Carolina. One inside page notes "Thanks Are Due To Walt Disney For The Cover Art." Also has 2-page spread "Marine Insignia By Walt Disney" featuring 10 different designs. Light cover wear with 2" crease at top right corner. Contents clean. Cover Fine, contents VF. Nice lot.
