12-3/8x16-3/8" vintage frame w/9.5x13.5" opening. Hand-watercolored print features portraits w/names below of "John C. Fremont/The Republican's Choice For President And/Wm. L. Dayton Vice President From 1857 To 1861." Caption at bottom reads "Grand National Republican Banner/Free Labor, Free Speech, Free Territory." Printer's notation at bottom in tiny letters reads "Entered According To Act Of Congress In The Year 1856 By N. Currier In The Clerk's Office Of The District Court Of The Southern Dist. Of N.Y./Lith. & Pub. By N. Currier 152 Nassau St. N.Y." Illustration above portraits shows U.S. flags, eagle, Lady "Liberty." Image below portraits depicts farm scene w/farmer and horse-drawn plow. White areas are slightly dark off-white due to age but only stain is barely noticeable sliver 5.5" long along extreme right margin. Displays VF. From the Hake collection.
