Item Description
Lot of 18, each 2-3/8x3". 1930s. Cards in this set feature illustrations on front pertaining to a particular movie star and object was to "Guess Who" and fill out the answer on the back. Front border design depicts different prizes that were available and these are featured on the "Rewards" check list also on card backs. Such items as roller skates, ball and bat, doll, etc. were available. Object was to fill out a set of cards numbered 1 through 10 to obtain the prize. However, there are an estimated minimum of 6 different "Guess Who" puzzles per card number allowing for adjustment of a correct list of answers by the issuing company, therefore resulting in fewer if any prizes needing to be awarded. A tricky ploy, cards are identified only with a mailing address for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with no issuer indicated. Among the stars featured as answers for these cards are Mae West, Ed Wynn, George Burns, W.C. Fields, etc. This lot includes at least one card per number (1-10) except for 6. There are a total of 15 different card designs plus 3 duplicates. Moderate aging and corner tip wear. Most with inked answer on reverse. Few with light crease. VG.
