Item Description
12-3/8x16-3/8" original frame (back panel is foam core, not wood). Original wire hanging loop is on top edge of frame. 9.5x13-5/8" opening. Below oval portraits reads "Hon. Abraham Lincoln, Of Illinois. For President/Hon. Hannibal Hamlin, Of Maine. For Vice President." Caption at bottom reads "The Republican Banner For 1860." Small printer's text at bottom reads "Published By Currier & Ives, Entered According To Act Of Congress In The Year 1860 By Currier & Ives In The Clerk's Office Of The District Court Of The Southern Dist. Of N.Y. 152 Nassau St. New York." White areas and margins are tanned w/small tonal variations on margins. Extreme outer edge of margins have seven tiny nicks, about 3/16" or less but all are covered by frame edge. Tiny 1/8" of blue on Lincoln's left cheek edge as occurred in hand-coloring process. Last sale we noted was from June 1999 in original frame for $6050. Overall near VF. From the Hake collection.
