Item Description
This item dated 1952 is the only example we know of, never before in our 41 years have we come across any of this material let alone a complete and unused set such as this. Similar in design to the Ralston Lunar Fleet Base premium (see item #2192) but even more involved and elaborate. 9.5x12.5" illustrated envelope contains the complete set issued through Space Patrol Toys of Los Angeles, CA. This address appears on both the envelope and catalogue. Env. has a mailing label as well as postage meter strip dated Dec. 5, 1952. Envelope has obvious margin wear with small tears and creases, 2" tear at lower left corner. VG. There is a large multi-panel, fold-out card stock sheet with punch-out pieces for assembly. This includes buildings, towers, satellites, wall sections, etc. as well as a Terra V spaceship. Very similar in design to the spaceship that comes with the lunar fleet base although images and cockpit are different and name appears in blue rather than red. Two pieces have come loose from the sheets and there are some other loose perfs but all remains unused. There is a 5x11" plastic sheet with a total of 18 different punch-out figures, spaceships, equipment, etc. Again, similar to those in the Lunar Fleet Base but that set came with just 7, not only do you get more with this set but they are much more detailed. Comes with plastic display stands. There is a 7x8" two-sided sheet, one side featuring detailed assembly instructions plus illustration of everything set up while the other advertises the "Space Patrol Electric Monorail Train." The text describing this item mentions a "50-piece Space Patrol City" which is obviously a reference to this set. Final item is a 4x8" catalogue folder that opens to 25" in length. Many classic and rare items are featured including helmet, Space-A-Phone, watch, gun and holster set, 3 different caps, flight suit, boots, belt, gloves, etc. All items are thoroughly detailed and include prices, one panel is an order form. Aside from the envelope, all is N. Mint/Mint. A truly exceptional item.
