Item Description
This 15/16" ferrotype listed as Sullivan AL1864-94 is one of the most desirable from the campaign. The front is in a brass frame design with the same style used for encased postage stamps. A pair of shield and wreath designs are complimented by the text "For President Abraham Lincoln." In reflected light, there are minute craze lines on the emulsion surface but viewed straight-on these do not show at all and the portrait details are clear and crisp. Reverse has .5" circular ferro of Johnson with surrounding text "For Vice President Andrew Johnson." Tiny rim hole as made. Tiny bit of glossy luster loss, mostly off the reverse but on both sides most original luster remains and overall is in excess of 95%. An excellent example formerly in the Ed Potter and Hake collections.
