Item Description
13x16" professionally framed, double-matted display has bw image of McKinley taking oath of the presidency. 5.25x7.75" letter on "William McKinley, Canton, Ohio" letterhead dated Aug. 31, 1896. Letter reads: "My Dear Sir: I Place A High Value Upon Your Judgement In Such Matters, And, Therefore, It Is That I Keenly Appreciate Your Words Of Commendation Of My Letter Of Acceptance. Very Truly Yours, W. McKinley." Letter was to L. Clark Davis, Esq. the Managing Editor of "The Ledger" newspaper of Philadelphia, PA. Given date, we believe McKinley's "Letter Of Acceptance" to be his acceptance of the Republican nomination in the 1896 presidential election. Letter is folded twice as mailed and lightly aged. McKinley's signature has lightened slightly but still remains bold and distinct. Exc. Comes with Hake's COA.
