Compiled by the Legislative Correspondents' Association for 1915 Press Club Dinner. 5x7". 36 pages. Titled "The Modest Art Of Self Advance." Cover illustration features boxers in a ring surrounded by large crowd. Boxing theme continues throughout. Cover page reads "Sporting Annual Compiled By The Legislative Correspondents Association/Containing Correct Records Of White House Hopes, State Champions, Has Beens, Handlers And Never Wasers/Distributed At Training Quarters Of 'Ripper' Whitman/Ten Eyck Hotel, Albany, N.Y./Thursday Evening, March 25, 1915/This Is The Night When Everyone Breaks Training." Pages are printed on heavy gray card stock. Contents include association officers, board of directors, various committees for the event all being part of the newspaper/publishing industry. Also included is the menu and toast list. Toast list includes various New York politicians including Whitman, Glynn, Odell, O'Gorman, McCombs and Barnes. Various personalities are depicted in boxing-style illustrations on the left page with extensive satirical biographies of the "boxers" on the right. Most notable is Teddy Roosevelt and Charles Evans Hughes. The back 10 pages are devoted to a 10-round boxing match done in verse intended to match various popular songs of the day i.e. "Sidewalks Of New York" etc. Last page acknowledges cartoonists featured within including: Kirby, Goldberg, Briggs, Lynd, Cesare, Frueh, Harding, Heath, St. Clair. A very detailed and elaborate presentation for a one-day event. Light wear to cover. Fine. Contents humorous, well executed and Exc. An interesting read.
