Item Description
Lot of six 3.5x5.5" postcards c. early 1900s with original mat/frame 9x27.25" overall. Interesting concept of ladies' and mens' faces appearing in smoke. Each illustration has a hand at the bottom holding a cigarette, cigar or pipe with smoke trailing up to the faces. The bottom of each is titled with a corresponding 4-line verse. Titles include: Coquetting/Flirting/Picking My Company/Dreamy Moments/Birds Of A Feather/Daydreams. Each has the name of American artist "Alfred James Dewey." Also printed at the bottom is "Copyright Reinthal & Newman - Pubs. - N.Y." Bottom center of mat is printed "Visions In The Smoke" and copyright by Reinthal & Newman. Back of original wood frame has replaced dust cover/hanger wire. Light wear to corners of frame. Cards are bright, clean and Exc. Great display piece.
