Item Description
2.25" tall. c. 1900. Finely detailed boar (pig) seated behind what appears to be a rolled scroll with thick rope with tassel ends wrapped around the scroll. Pig has detailed hooves, ears, eyes, snout. Mouth has tusks and tongue exposed in an angry expression. Uncertain of significance but possibly related to the Boar War (1899-1902) that was fought between the British Empire and two Boer (Boar) republics in South Africa. Brass has tarnished with age resulting in a nice old patina. Regardless of its significance, very well made. Exc.
