Item Description
1.25" button shows "Bob Evans" and reads "Visit Battleship Fleet Pacific Coast 1908." Trivial age mark on the W&H backpaper. Cello is N. Mint and displays Mint. TR ordered the United States Navy Battle Fleet on a worldwide tour to demonstrate America's military power. The fleet left Virginia Dec. 16, 1907 and this button is from their stop in California May, 1908. Bob Evans commanded the First Squadron and First Division of The Fleet. John McCain's grandfather was a junior officer on this voyage.
