Item Description
Large 2-1/16" with choice color 'Spirit Of 1776' scene centering the text "For American Principle And Tradition/Yankee Doodle/Helms Campaign Committee." Button was issued for Charles Brumm Helms. We've seen another button for him for the office of "State Secretary." That had a Philadelphia backpaper by the Shaw company while this has a Philadelphia backpaper by "The Kenney Co." Other items we've seen for this man imply association with the Ku Klux Klan using the phrase "100% American." This is the first example we've seen of this button and it is in N. Mint condition displaying Mint. Likely c. late 20s.
