Item Description
This stunning, gorgeous item was a give-away in 1909 from Daisy to potential attendees of an Atlantic City convention for hardware manufacturers and retailers. The overall size is 3x7.75" and the piece is over .25" thick as it holds 13 alternating color pink/blue/white blotter sheets, unused except for two tiny marks on the rear sheet. The celluloid front cover has a tiny Whitehead & Hoag 1905 patent date along with the bold text which reads in full "Blot out the past and remember the Fifteenth Annual Convention of the American Hardware Manufacturers Association and The National Hardware Association of the U.S. Atlantic City, N.J., Oct. 13-14-15th, 1909./DAISY MANUFACTURING CO./Plymouth, Michigan U.S.A./Manufacturers Of Daisy Air Rifles Exclusively./Model B/1000 Shot Daisy/STANDARD OF THE WORLD." To the left, the celluloid cover and blotter sheets are held by a very large 2-1/8" celluloid made like a button but with its back covered in tin and with a pair of brass prongs that go through the pad and flare out on the back to hold everything together. The curl edge of this celluloid carries the W&H name. The celluloid displays a young boy in superb color proudly holding his Daisy rifle in both hands. The text is in white outlined in black and in solid gold lettering all on the circles of the target design reading "Daisy Air Rifles/Trade Mark/Daisy Manufacturing Co./Plymouth, Mich. U.S.A." The only example known to us and in gorgeous N. Mint condition, displaying Mint.
